JW turns 2

Yesterday was Jon Wiley's birthday. This evening, I received an email from Adele at Blessed Kids with some wonderful news. Not only did Jon Wiley get his birthday cake, but also the orphanage staff took pictures of him enjoying it! There are 4 pictures in total, posted below. JW appears to be right-handed, and his right eye is a little puffy. Perhaps conjunctivitis after returning him to the orphanage from foster care. The little girl in the picture with him is his foster sister, so he knows how to say jie-jie (big sister). That knowledge will come in handy for him.

More good news: Dianjiang SWI only uses Nestle formula, mixed with rice. So as far as we know, our little man has no melamine floating around in him.

Several of you have mentioned that he looks so serious and expressionless. In his province, when the TA is sent to the adoptive family, the child is retrieved from the foster family (by the police) and returned to the orphanage. So I'm sure he is reeling and emotionally numb right now. But to me that means that he is smart enough to know that things aren't quite right and emotionally healthy enough to miss his foster family. I also remember how serious Miss Devyn was in her pictures and in real life, at first. And look at her now, full of vim, vigor, and Hunan fire!

Happy Birthday to JW!! I am sure yesterday was full of emotion for both of you. You have to wonder if he has ever even tasted or seen a cake before! We look forward to meeting your precious little man soon.
